The conventions of a music video in alternative rock

Here are some of the conventions of a music video from the alternative rock genre:


  • They usually have some sort of deeper meaning even if that meaning is not immediatly clear.

  • Most of them would fall into the amplification catagory.

  • Some of the bands see their music video as a form of art (White Stripes) and like to make their videos stand out as much as possible

    This is insightful, but I think you are missing out on the easy conventions you would find in an alt-rock video. You are aware of them because you've been using them in your own video.
